Why it works

Built for Cambridge. Built around you.

Follows your syllabus.

Everything is organised topic by topic, the way your syllabus is. You only see what's in your course.

Knows your level.

IGCSE students get IGCSE answers. AS students don't see A Level topics.

Keeps track for you.

Every video, worksheet, flashcard and paper counts towards your progress, so your plan stays up to date.

Shows you why.

When it says a topic needs work, it shows you the results behind it. You can always change it.

Questions

What is CIE Buddy?

An AI study partner for Cambridge IGCSE, AS and A Level. It plans your revision, has an in-depth video and an AI tutor for every topic, gives you past-paper practice and flashcards, marks your past papers, and shows you how you're doing in each subject. It used to be called StudyPal.

How is it different from ChatGPT?

ChatGPT doesn't know your syllabus, your exam dates or how you did last week. CIE Buddy does. Its answers match your level, and what it suggests comes from your own results.

Which subjects does it cover?

IGCSE: Mathematics, Physics, Chemistry, Biology, Economics, Accounting, Business, Business Studies and Information and Communication Technology. AS & A Level: Mathematics, Physics, Chemistry, Biology, Economics, Accounting, Business, Computer Science, Information Technology and Psychology. Paper corrections can mark past papers from more subjects than that.

Is the paper marking based on Cambridge's marking?

Yes. Each paper is marked against Cambridge's published mark scheme for that exact paper, following Cambridge's marking rules: its general marking principles, method and accuracy marks, and error carried forward. The AI reads your answers; the mark scheme decides the marks.

How accurate is the AI marking?

It marks each answer against the official Cambridge mark scheme, point by point. It's a close guide, not an official grade: it can misread handwriting or miss an unusual method. Anything it isn't sure about is flagged.

Can my parents see how I'm doing?

If you want them to. Add a parent's or guardian's email in your profile and they get a short update every Sunday evening: days studied, marks, predicted grades, readiness for your next exam and what's next. You can preview the email first and turn it off any time, and so can they. They never see your chats or notes.

How much does it cost?

Everything is free until 14 November. After that there's a free plan, and one paid plan: a full year with no limits, at 80% off for the first 100 students. AS and A Level are free right now. The pricing page has the prices in your currency.

Is it run by Cambridge?

No. CIE Buddy is independent and not connected to Cambridge University Press & Assessment.

What happens to my data?

We don't show ads and we never sell your data. Questions you ask the AI are processed under terms that stop them being used for training. The privacy policy has the details.

Does it work on my phone?

Yes. It works in the browser on phones, tablets and laptops, and you can add it to your home screen.

Start studying smarter today.

Add your subjects and exams, and your plan is ready in two minutes.
