For parents and guardians

You can't sit the exam for them. You can stop worrying.

Cambridge exams are a lot to carry, for them and for you. CIE Buddy gives your child a plan, a teacher for every topic and marking they can trust, and gives you a short update every Sunday, so you know how it's really going without having to ask.

Trusted by thousands of Cambridge students since 2024. Free until 14 November.

Sound familiar?

The worries no one puts on the school report.

  • “Are you studying?” “Yes.”

And that's all you get. You don't want to hover, but you can't tell whether the door is closed for revision or for something else.

With CIE Buddy: Every Sunday you get a short email: which days they studied, what they did, and how their marked work went. You know without having to ask.

  • “I can't help with this any more.”

You helped with times tables and spellings. A Level Chemistry is another matter, and you hate watching them get stuck at eleven at night.

With CIE Buddy: An in-depth video for every syllabus topic, and an AI tutor that explains anything they're stuck on, at their level, at any hour.

  • Finding out on results day.

Mocks come and go, reports say “working hard”, and the first real number you see is the one that counts.

With CIE Buddy: Their past papers are marked against Cambridge's mark scheme, topic by topic, so you can see predicted grades and how ready they are for each exam months before it.

  • Every conversation turns into an argument.

“How's revision going?” lands as nagging, and you both end up frustrated.

With CIE Buddy: The email gives you something specific and kind to say: “Well done on six days this week. How's Moles going?” Fewer interrogations, better conversations.

  • Revision scattered everywhere.

A YouTube video here, a PDF from a group chat there, a timetable that was abandoned in week two.

With CIE Buddy: One place, organised by their Cambridge syllabus: a plan for each day, videos, past-paper practice, flashcards and marking.

  • Tuition you can't always be there for.

A tutor helps for an hour a week. The doubts come up the other six days, usually late at night.

With CIE Buddy: Help whenever they sit down to study, and a plan that tells them what to do with the time, so the hours they put in actually count.

Every Sunday evening

The update you've been asking for.

One short email about their week, written for parents, not examiners. Two minutes to read over Sunday dinner, and you know where things stand.

  • How many days they studied, and what they did
  • Marks on the papers and worksheets they had checked
  • Predicted grades and readiness for each upcoming exam
  • The topics to focus on next week
On a quiet week it says so, kindly: “That doesn't always mean no revision: school work and books don't show up here.” It's there to start a conversation, not an argument.

When you can't be the one to help

Help at eleven at night. Honest marks the next morning.

When they're stuck, the AI tutor explains it at their level, from their syllabus. When they finish a past paper, it's marked against Cambridge's own mark scheme, with the reason for every lost mark and the topics to fix first. No guessing, and no waiting a week for a tutor.

why does a longer spanner make it easier?

Moment = force × distance. More distance, so you need less force for the same turning effect.IGCSE Physics · 1.5.2

What we promise you

Made for your child, with you in mind.

It's their space, shared with you.

Your child adds your email, can preview exactly what you'll see, and either of you can stop it at any time. You see their progress, never their chats or notes.

No ads. Ever.

Nothing to scroll past, nothing to click away to. We never sell anyone's data.

Their questions stay theirs.

Questions they ask the AI are processed under terms that stop them being used for training.

Built for Cambridge.

Everything follows the Cambridge syllabus for their level. CIE Buddy is independent and not connected to Cambridge University Press & Assessment.

Questions parents ask

Do I need my own account?

No. Your child makes the account and adds your email in their profile. You'll get a short email saying they've added you, then an update every Sunday evening. Many families set it up together in a couple of minutes.

Can I see everything my child does?

No, and that's on purpose. You see how much they studied, their marks on checked papers and worksheets, predicted grades, readiness for upcoming exams and what to focus on next. You don't see their questions to the AI, their chats or their notes.

What if they had a quiet week?

The email says so, gently. Revision from school or books doesn't show up in CIE Buddy, so a quiet week doesn't always mean no work. It suggests a few topics as a good place to restart, which makes for an easier conversation than “why haven't you studied?”

Can I stop the emails?

Yes. Every email has a link to stop them, and your child can turn them off in their profile too.

Does it replace a tutor or their teachers?

No. It's there for the hours in between: when they sit down to revise, get stuck, or don't know what to do next. It works alongside school and tuition, not instead of them.

Which subjects and levels does it cover?

IGCSE: Business, Information and Communication Technology, Business Studies, Accounting, Economics, Mathematics, Biology, Chemistry and Physics. AS & A Level: Business, Computer Science, Information Technology, Biology, Chemistry, Physics, Accounting, Economics, Mathematics and Psychology. Paper corrections can mark past papers from more subjects than that.

How much does it cost?

Everything is free until 14 November. After that there's a free plan, and one paid plan: a full year with no limits, at 80% off for the first 100 students. AS and A Level are free right now. The pricing page has the prices in your currency.

Is it safe for teenagers?

There are no ads and no public profiles: what your child does in CIE Buddy stays private to them, apart from the update they choose to share with you. We never sell anyone's data, and the privacy policy has the details.

Exam season is hard. It doesn't have to be lonely.

Sit down with your child for two minutes: add their subjects and exams, then your email. Their plan is ready tonight, and your first update arrives on Sunday.
